First memory in sport/exercise
My first memory related to sport and exercise that I can remember would probably be P.E. class in elementary school. I believe that it was the third grade and I always loved to race my classmates in sprints or laps around the track. More specifically, I loved to race other boys. Sometimes I'd win and sometimes I'd lose, but the fact that I gave it a try was satisfying enough.
As this relates to my overall life values, I am a firm believer in equality regardless of race or gender or age. Being able to have the courage to engage in activities in which society may think otherwise is some sort of independence I've always embraced growing up. For example, people often do not associate females with sports, which is part of the reason why I have a love for sports. Stereotypes and judgements is my motivation to continue to do what I love, not only because I enjoy the sports but also as a way to heighten social justice in our world and to make change.
